Sue Owens Wright and Bubba

Can a basset hound really solve mysteries in and around Lake Tahoe? Only in fiction probably, but certainly that’s what happens in the popular series written by native Sue Owens Wright. “Braced for Murder” is the latest in the series published by Five Star Publishing. Wright has long shared her time between Lake Tahoe and Sacramento and will be back in the area for a book signing event 3-5 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Dog Dog Cat Pet Store, 4000 Lake Tahoe Blvd., C-17 in South Lake Tahoe.

Wright is an author of both fiction and nonfiction about dogs and writes the award-winning Pets & Their People newspaper column.

She is a 10-time nominee for the coveted Maxwell, awarded annually by the Dog Writers Association of America to the best writer on the subject of dogs. She has twice won the Maxwell Award and also earned special recognition from the Humane Society of the United States for her work. She writes the popular Beanie and Cruiser Mystery Series for dog lovers, which includes the following novels: “Howling Bloody Murder,” “Sirius About Murder,” “Embarking on Murder” and the new “Braced for Murder” (May 2013).

Her nonfiction books include What’s Your Dog’s IQ?, 150 Activities for Bored Dogs, and People’s Guide to Pets, to which she contributed chapters on dog care for Borders. Learn more about Sue and her work at http://www.sueowenswright.com.
