Auto shop receives ‘green’ designation

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Crow’s Auto Care, an eco-friendly automotive and bicycle repair shop, was recognized as a ‘Green Station’ by the California Department of Toxic Substances Control and the Bureau of Automotive Repair and was awarded the DTSC’s Pollution Model Shop certificate.

Mike Crow opened the store in November 2008. He uses biodegradable and nontoxic solvents, purchases products in bulk to reduce packaging and uses dry clean up on chemical spills where nothing is wasted.

“We use sustainable products such as lifetime oil and air filters, re-refined motor oil and animal-friendly engine coolant,” he said. “We recycle everything from paper, metal, plastic, oil filters, coolant, oil and waste water.”

The shop can be reached at (530) 542-1623.
