Barton Auxiliary names Volunteer of the Month
Irene Buyten has been named the Barton Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer of the Month for August.
Buyten has worked for 10 years at The Attic, the hospital’s thrift store, where she specializes in repairing, polishing, cleaning and displaying items in the jewelry case. For many years she has been the jewelry expert at the Holiday Faire.
Buyten is also editor of The Barometer, the auxiliary’s newsletter and has been a member of the board of directors for many years. Due to her keen support of the auxiliary, which translates to loyalty to Barton Memorial Hospital, she has volunteered nearly 14,000 hours of her time since she began in 1978. She recently moved to the Carson Valley, yet she continues to travel to the South Shore to serve the needs of The Attic.
