Barton names Physician of the Year

Provided to the Tahoe Daily Tribune Bruce Daugherty, M.D., was named Physician of the Year for 2004-2005 during a ceremony at Barton Hospital recognizing National Doctors Day.

Nearly 900 ballots were given to Barton Memorial Hospital employees to vote for the Physician of the Year for 2004-2005. Bruce Daugherty, M.D., a general surgeon, was the recipient of this honor. He has been practicing at Lake Tahoe for 20 years and is well-liked by all at Barton Hospital.

Daugherty was recognized as Physician of the Year on March 30, which is National Doctors Day. He was presented with a plaque and a special gift as employees applauded. Some of the employees’ comments on the ballots regarding Dr. Daugherty included:

“Works very hard and is very dedicated to his patients.”

“A wonderful surgeon with a heart of gold.”

“A dedicated, loyal physician, who deeply cares about his patients.”

“Very dedicated to the hospital and his patients.”

In addition, the Barton Hospital Foundation created a new program, which invited community members to honor their favorite physician(s) by making a contribution as a tribute for his or her service, care, knowledge and compassion. Thirty-six doctors also were recognized for their outstanding work as their names were read at the ceremony.
