Barton plays host to volunteers at Harrah’s
Barton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary recently was host to the Sacramento Valley Area Council of the California Association of Hospital Health Services at Harrah’s Tahoe. The gathering was attended by 108 volunteers from 16 hospitals from the Sacramento Valley area.
The area council is made up of 20 hospitals, and cities represented include Yuba City, Marysville, Truckee, Vacaville and Sacramento, Calif. Their goal is to exchange and share ideas with other volunteers to better serve the hospitals. The hospital volunteer organizations meet four times a year to share experiences and exchange ideas to maintain quality service to their hospitals. Sacramento Valley Area Council is one of 18 area councils in five regions which comprise the California Association of Hospitals and Health Systems Volunteer Division representing more than 150,000 individual hospital volunteers.
Bill Gordon, Barton Hospital CEO, gave a welcoming address as did Carol Colford, Barton Auxiliary president. The speaker for the event was Dr. Michael Nussdorfer, chief of radiology and staff at Barton Hospital. He showed slides and explained the phases of X-ray technology.
During lunch the volunteers were entertained with a fashion show featuring clothing from the Attic thrift store, which is operated by Barton Auxiliary. The donated clothing and accessories were modeled by personnel from the Attic.
The event was co-chaired by Joy Ragland and Fern Riley with the help of many volunteers from Barton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
