Roughly 900 ballots were given to the employees of Barton Hospital to vote for Physician of the Year for 2005-06. On March 30, National Doctors Day, not one but two doctors were recognized for their skill and commitment as doctors, the ability to comfort and heal, and their dedication to the community. Clint Purvance, emergency room physician, and Randa Bascharon, orthopedic physician, were both named Doctor of the Year by their fellow Barton Hospital co-workers. Both physicians were presented with a plaque and a gift.

Some of the employees’ comments on the ballots regarding Dr. Purvance and Dr. Bascharon included:

— “Dr. Purvance is enthusiastic, professional, and treats all team members in a respectful and professional manner. He has excellent bedside demeanor and is a good solid team leader.”

— “Dr. Purvance is wonderful to his patients, always nice and obliging to staff. He always has time for anyone who needs him and is always friendly and smiling.”
