Basin fuel wood permits on sale June 1

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The U.S. Forest Service will begin the sale of fuel wood permits in the Lake Tahoe Basin June 1, according to a statement from the agency.

Permits allow the collection of up to 30 inch diameter trees dead on the ground in designated areas within the basin and cost $20 per cord.

There is a two cord minimum purchase and a 10 cord household limit associated with the permits, according to the statement.

Permits have specific conditions and full information is provided when a permit is issued.

The permits will be available through October 28 at the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit Forest Supervisor’s Office at 35 College Drive in South Lake Tahoe. For more information call 530-543-2694.
