Bert G. Barnett
Funeral services were conducted in Los Angeles, Calif., for Bert G. Barnett, who died peacefully at his home in South Lake Tahoe Nov. 13, 2004, as a result of ALS/Lou Gehrig’s Disorder. He was 82.
Bert was born Jan. 24, 1922, at Kansas City, Mo., and spent his adult years in Los Angeles. He retired in 1972 and lived in Santa Maria, Calif., for 15 years. When he and his wife were passing through South Lake Tahoe 16 years ago, they were so enchanted by the beauty of the area they decided to make Tahoe their home. Bert had a passion for boating and fishing and spent 45 years RVing to Alaska, Yukon Territory, Mexico and all over the United States including all the National Parks and historical landmarks. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and South Lake Tahoe Elks and enjoyed time spent with the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was also an active member of the South Lake Tahoe Cancer League and volunteered his time to drive patients to Carson City and Reno.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Annette Barnett; daughters, Laurel Barnett and Wendy Barnett Engel; son, Kenneth Barnett; granddaughter, Heather Garber; and brother, Monroe Barnett.
