‘Best in Basin’ awarded for Tamarack Lodge design
Collaborative Design Studio Wins TRPA “2011 Best in Basin” Award for the Tamarack Lodge.
Collaborative Design Studio, a Reno based architectural firm that began in Incline Village in 1976, was recently recognized by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency for design excellence through the “Best in Basin” annual design award program for its design of the new Tamarack Mid-Mountain Ski Lodge at Heavenly Lake Tahoe Ski Resort.
This LEED Certified building is located at 9150 feet, at the top of the Heavenly Gondola. The main inspiration for the design came from ski lodge designs of the past, resulting in a clean, elegant, dramatic wood structure that fits nicely into its surroundings while providing a striking contrast with snow and sunlight. This makes the Tamarack Lodge a landmark building in The Basin.
The TRPA award program selects projects demonstrating exceptional planning, design, and compatibility to the Lake Tahoe environment while adhering to TRPA’s strict building guidelines. Local design professionals judge entries and selects awards in several categories.
This is the seventh “Best in Basin” award earned by Collaborative Design Studio, formerally Lundahl and Associates.
