Provided to the Tribune

The Better Breathers meet at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center. The featured speaker is Dr. Kim Chatfield, LAC, OMD. He performs acupuncture and herbal medicine, and has offices in South Lake Tahoe and Woodfords.

Chatfield will share the benefits of herbal and acupuncture treatment specifically for patients with breathing difficulty. He is a former professor of acupuncture and clinical nutrition, as well as a botanical medicine instructor. Chatfield is author of “Medicine From the Mountains: Medicinal Plants of the Sierra Nevada.” Time also will be allowed to answer questions about COPD.

Better Breathers Support Group meets monthly to discuss matters to help members better cope with breathing problems and to learn ways to maximize health. Special speakers are invited to discuss related subjects, and time is allowed for group discussion and questions regarding COPD (asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema). Meetings are monthly, and the public is always welcome; there is no charge.
