Better Breathers will discuss altitude

Tribune

Jim Kent, respiratory therapist from Vital Care, will be the featured speaker at the Better Breathers today’s meeting. The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the lounge at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

Kent will lead a discussion explaining complications of congestive heart failure at higher altitudes such as Lake Tahoe. The heart and lungs are very interdependent and difficulty with one significantly affects the other. Patients living at this high altitude or visiting from lower altitudes need to be award of the effects of lower oxygen content in the environment.

For more information call Jan Peacock at (530) 542-9183 or American Lung Association at (775) 829-5864.
