Betty Griffin Lester

Private family services are planned at a later date for Betty Griffin Lester, who passed away unexpectedly of pneumonia July 11, 2007, at Barton Memorial Hospital.

Betty was born Aug. 27, 1930, in Detroit, Mich., to Joseph Griffin and Jane Eggenton. She had been a resident of Zephyr Cove since November 2000. Betty graduated from Los Angeles High School in 1947. She was director of government contracts for Advanced Decision Systems Inc., in Mountain View, Calif., before retiring in 1992. Betty loved spending time with her family at Lake Tahoe and her hobbies included reading, playing video poker and playing with her dog.

She is survived by her husband, Eric J. Shiroma; sons, William Anderson and Kenneth Anderson; stepson, Matthew Shiroma; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Snowflake. She was preceded in death by both her parents.

The family requests no flowers or memorial donations.
