Bicyclist killed

A 28-year-old man from Kings Beach died Sunday night after a red Ford Bronco rammed his bicycle. Both were headed westbound at the intersection of State Route 28 and State Route 431.

The man driving the Bronco, 24-year-old Erik Randall, was booked for felony DUI causing death, said the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Investigators believe Randall did not stop after he hit the 28-year-old, because they found the man’s body about 200 feet from the point of impact, indicating he was carried by the truck. His bike was equipped with a headlight and taillight, items that are required to ride a bike at night. He was also wearing a helmet.

A trooper arrested Randall at a friend’s house in Incline Village on Sunday at 1 a.m. The wreck occurred at 10:33 p.m. on Saturday.

NHP said it will release the name of the man who died in the crash after his family has been notified.
