Bidez, Farrow qualify for World Championship halfpipe semis

LA MOLINA, Spain – USA riders Benji Farrow of Mt. Holly, Vt., and Clair Bidez of Minturn, Colo., qualified Wednesday for Thursday’s World Championship halfpipe semifinals.

Farrow and Bidez were among 32 riders who qualified for the semifinals, while 12 athletes qualified directly to the finals.

Farrow and Bidez will drop into the pipe Thursday morning with hopes of advancing to the finals. Six men and six women have already qualified for the finals after finishing in the top-two spots in their respective heats.

Fellow U.S. riders Paul Brichta of Burnsville, Minn.; Taylor Gold of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; Allyson Carroll of Truckee and Summer Fenton of San Francisco did not qualify.

The men’s and women’s halfpipe semifinals and finals are scheduled for Thursday.
