Bijou celebrates new park

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – With the help of community volunteers and supportive organizations, Bijou Community School has a new park.

Bijou’s Field of Dreams used to be a dirt lot before more than 130 volunteers came to transform it into a grassy field.

Volunteers planted 22 trees, assembled 12 concrete picnic tables, built a stepping stone playground border, and cleaned up the school.

The school and its supporters celebrated the opening of the park with a ribbon cutting celebration June 9.

Organizations that helped the park come to be include: Bijou Community School Parent Teach Association, Big George Ventures, The Rotary Club of South Lake Tahoe, Heavenly Ski Resort, DeCelle’s Lake Tahoe Relay Organization, and Aspen Hollow, Tahoe Asphalt, Dale Rise Construction, Ed Cook Tree Service, Adams Concrete Design, Heavenly Mountain Resort, Barton Health Foundation, Cafecitos, Tahoe Bear Box, Tahoe Sand and Gravel and Signs of Tahoe.
