SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The owner of the casino building where a hidden safe was found last week has had more trouble than initially anticipated opening the relic.

Two locksmiths and a safecracker have attempted to open the safe to no avail, Mike Laub said Tuesday.

A previous attempt to open the safe resulted in a broken handle, Laub said. He said he expects to bring in a blow torch operator in the next couple of days to assist in opening the find.

Construction workers discovered the almost four-foot-tall safe while demolishing the inside of the former Bill’s Lake Tahoe building last week.
