Linda Spivack, owner of Fabric & Finds, has connected her store with another: Design & Consign. The store opened two weeks ago.

Spivack owned an antique store eight years ago. When the space next to her fabric store became available, she came up with the idea for a consignment shop.

Between both stores, Spivack offers a plethora of exotic fabrics from Italy and France, and even old pieces from the 1920s. In the consignment shop, a customer can pick up a coffee table, decor for a room or a pillow made by Spivack.

Buying used furniture is a green way to furnish a home, Spivack said. It’s recycling of quality household items.

Another feature will be “bargains in the bathrooms.” Spivack said she will set up a shelf with items that are on sale.

Spivack plans to have her grand opening April 5.

The stores are at 2717 Lake Tahoe Blvd., Suite 2, upstairs in the Sierra Shops center. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. For more information, call (530) 545-2818.

Help-U-Sell is joining the ranks of local businesses moving in to the new Ski Run Shopping Center.

Owner Ginger Nicolay-Davis said she’s excited about the move.

Even though Help-U-Sell doesn’t have a physical commercial office until June 15, Nicolay-Davis said she moved the office line to her house, creating a home office. Agents also will work from open houses. She said their business still will be operating full-time while waiting for the shopping center to open.

Nicolay-Davis said the office will remain the same size, operating with five agents.

Open houses will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call (530) 542-4242.

Chase International has moved to accommodate its expansion. The new office at 989 Tahoe Keys Blvd. has 5,000 square feet of space for its 33 agents.

Doug Rosner, former owner and broker of Century 21 South Tahoe Realty, and Adele Lucas, former owner of Prudential California Realty, merged their companies with Chase last year.

The office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. For more information, (530) 544-2121.
