Sara Thompson / Tahoe Daily TribuneLaura Younk opened Bliss Salon, which provides manicures, pedicures and massages for clients.

After working as a manicurist for six years, Laura Younk opened her own place called Bliss Salon this month.

“I wanted to start my own business and this was an opportunity that had to be taken,” Younk said.

The salon is in the Nail Girls’ old location on Kingsbury Grade. Younk worked for the Nail Girls for 4 1/2 years.

The location was completely remodeled, and now has a massage therapy room. The salon offers manicures, pedicures and massages, Younk said.

Regular and deep tissue massage are available for clients.

For nails, the shop has colored acrylics and gels, and can make custom colors if the right shade isn’t already there, Younk said.

Clients’ pedicures include deep cleaning of the cuticles, callus eliminator, sugar scrub on the calf and foot to exfoliate the skin, and a massage. Manicures consist of a deep cleaning and sugar scrub.

The salon offers a variety of manicures and pedicures to suit clients’ pampering needs.

Younk said that Bliss Salon complements neighboring shops. Hair & Rods Unlimited Styles is located below Bliss and offers hairstyling, and Electric Lady’s offers tanning beds in the same building.

The salon offers locals’ discounts for massages, pedicures and manicures, and Younk described the pricing as competitive.

The salon has a deck where clients can relax in the sun and enjoy the mountain view while waiting for their appointment.

Younk said the salon is tentatively planning a grand opening celebration for September.

The salon is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, but other times are available by appointment. Walk-ins in are available but appointments are encouraged. It’s at 290 Kingsbury Grade, above Mirabelle’s. For more information, call (775) 588-1888, or go to
