Simple Tahoe Weddings and HeliTahoe have combined efforts to offer brides and grooms the ultimate wedding experience: Helicopter weddings.

Karen Estes, owner of Simple Tahoe Weddings, said the idea came from Claudio Bellotto, HeliTahoe owner and helicopter pilot.

“I thought it would be a unique way to celebrate the most important step in your life,” Bellotto said.

The businesses inaugurated their partnership in August and have completed 10 helicopter weddings so far, Estes said. Bellotto and Estes still own and operate their individual businesses but unite for the helicopter weddings.

The ceremony is performed in-flight and lasts approximately 20 minutes. The helicopter has enough cozy space for the minister to wed the bride and groom. The whole package, which includes the flight, minister and marriage license, is $549. HeliWeddings will be available year round.

HeliTahoe is located at 1901 Airport Road, Suite 106. For more information, call (530) 544-2211. Simple Tahoe Weddings is located at 987 Edgewood Circle, Suite G. Its hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call (530) 541-1400.

Renovating Raley’s

Raley’s is adding 16,000 square feet to its store at 1038 Emerald Bay Road.

The remodel will provide better accommodations for the store’s customers, Raley’s communication specialist Amy Johnston wrote in an e-mail.

The remodeling will include new services, such as a gourmet sandwich shop, a sushi bar, an expanded natural foods department and an area for Peet’s Coffee and Tea.

The addition will be complete in spring 2008.

Real estate office in new location

Paradise Real Estate & Timeshare Resale opened a new office in Heavenly Village at 4118 Lake Tahoe Blvd., Suite 5. The location is across the street from its previous location, which the business had occupied for 18 years.

When the Château at Heavenly is completed, Paradise will open more offices in the retail and office space available at the center.

For more information, call (530) 541-2400.

Angel Touch combines with Tips and Toes

Owner Anna Terry of Anna’s Angel Touch purchased Tips and Toes when the owner of that business left town in April, Terry said.

Terry combined her massage, waxing and facial business with the nail salon to provide an array of services for her customers. The shop was remodeled so the businesses can operate as a cohesive unit.

The store is open Monday through Saturday, and walk-ins are welcome. The business doesn’t have set hours, so it’s best to book an appointment. Angel Touch/Tips and Toes is located at 100 McFaul Way, Suite E. For more information, call (775) 586-1885.

Correction: The Local’s Choice

Last week’s Biz Beat incorrectly stated the days The Local’s Choice is open. The haircutting shop is open Monday through Saturday.
