The American Legion Auxiliary was able to obtain 500 government surplus blankets for distribution to homeless or needy people. The blankets were delivered to American Legion Post 795 on Lake Tahoe Boulevard recently and have been distributed to several local service organizations, including the Legion Post, Veteran’s Affairs Office, WIC program, Community Services, St. Theresa Catholic Church, Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church, Choices for Children, Family Resources Center, Sierra Recovery Center and Christmas Cheer.

Members of the auxiliary are pleased to offer some assistance to families in need, most especially to homeless veterans. As the nights get colder, those who do not have adequate housing or means to keep warm may be a little less uncomfortable wrapped in a new, thick, warm wool blanket.

For more information contact American Legion Post 795 at (530) 541-8788 or the American Legion Auxiliary at (530) 541-5573.
