Blizzard warning issued for Lake Tahoe high country

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for the greater Lake Tahoe region above 7,000 feet.

The warning will be in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 7 a.m. Thursday. According to the weather service, winds could be as strong as 100 mph on ridge tops.

Heavy snow accumulation of 2 to 5 feet is possible above 7,000 feet during that time.
