Blood drive at Caesars

Get into the spirit of giving this holiday season by donating at the Dec. 21 blood drive sponsored by Caesars Tahoe and United Blood Service.

The drive will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Caesars Tahoe convention center. To make an appointment call Rosemarie Watts at (775) 588-3515, Ext. 3430.

United Blood Services is a nonprofit health care service, which was founded in 1943 and has grown to 20 community blood centers. They have the responsibility of supplying blood components to more than 600 hospitals in 18 states. Their role is to provide a safe and adequate supply of blood components to individuals and health care organizations.

To donate blood donors must be between the ages of 17 to 79, weigh at least 110 pounds, have not donated in the past eight weeks and not currently taking antibiotics or insulin. Donors should bring a photo ID, Social Security number, date of birth and list of medications that they have taken in the past month.
