Blood drive gets new location

The South Lake Tahoe Community Blood Drive hosted by Barton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 2 at the El Dorado County Library, 1100 Rufus Allen Blvd.

Participants will receive a coupon for a free personal one topping pizza with a minimum purchase from Round Table Pizza at the “Y.” All walk-ins are welcome.

Blood donations help patients being treated for accidents, routine surgeries and diseases such as cancer, heart disease and hemophilia. Giving blood is easy, safe and takes less than one hour.

To give blood, you must be in generally good health, free from cold symptoms for at least 48 hours, be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent) and weigh at least 110 pounds.

There is no upper age limit for donating blood. Prospective donors must bring a photo ID.

For more information about the blood drive contact Dan Kerr at (775) 781-5343. For donor eligibility questions, call BloodSource at (800) 995-4420.
