The following incidents were selected from among those reported to area law enforcement and fire protection districts.
Saturday Oct. 6
5 :30 a.m., Lakeside Inn & Casino, Stateline – domestic violence. Janell Cook, 30, of West Valley, Utah, told Douglas County sheriff’s deputies that she punched a man in the face twice after he told her that he lost $2,400 at the casino. Paramedics had the 29-year-old man transported by helicopter to Washoe Medical Center because he was unconscious. Medics at the hospital determined the man was not seriously injured but had a blood alcohol level of .46 when he arrived in Reno. Cook was booked for domestic battery.
9:35 p.m., Harrah’s Lake Tahoe, Stateline – illegal drug found. A small plastic bag filled with white powder was found near the entrance to a casino bathroom. The powder tested positive for two grams of methamphetamine.
Monday Oct. 8
8 a.m., 600 block of Otomites Street, Meyers – bicycle theft. An adult’s bike and a boy’s and girl’s bicycle were stolen from a covered porch, said El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department. The adult bike was a Motiv valued at $250. It is burgundy and white with 21 speeds. The crime occurred sometime between Saturday at 8 a.m. and Monday at 7 a.m. Larry Braun, 57, reported the loss.
5:50 p.m., Caesars Tahoe, Stateline – attempt to cash a fraudulent check. Amanda Garant, 22, of Vacaville, was arrested when she tried to cash a check issued for Fry’s Electronics, of San Jose, Calif. A similar check was cashed at the casino Sunday. Garant told a Douglas County sheriff’s deputy that someone named “Dame” promised to give her a cut of the money if she cashed the check.
Tuesday Oct. 9
3:23 a.m., Caesars Tahoe, Stateline – traffic accident. A brown 1978 Chevrolet Suburban barreled into a concrete abutment near a casino exit and got stuck there. The driver, Brian Tilley, 27, of South Lake Tahoe, was detained by security because they believed he had been drinking. Douglas County sheriff’s deputies determined that Tilley’s blood alcohol level was .22. They also found a deep cut in his lower lip. Video surveillance showed Tilley was punched in the mouth by a man after Tilley tried to open the door of a car he didn’t own.
10:03 a.m., 1352 Johnson Blvd., South Lake Tahoe – warrant arrest. Alex Walls, 26, of South Lake Tahoe, was arrested in the lobby of the South Lake Tahoe Police Department on a warrant for a failure to appear in court. He came to the department to ask if there were any warrants filed against him.
10:47 a.m., 1612 Shop St., South Lake Tahoe – grand theft. A winch worth $1,000 was hacksawed from a trailer on the property of California Colors Collision Repair. The owner, Mark Wolverton, 40, told police the theft occurred sometime between Oct. 3 at 5 p.m. and Oct. 5 at 8 a.m.
3:10 p.m., Harveys Resort Casino, Stateline – petty larceny. Busanee Srisao, 32, of British Columbia, had $140 in cash stolen from her wallet. She told Douglas County sheriff’s deputies that she left her purse open on a chair while playing slots. Her empty wallet turned up later in a casino bathroom.
