The following incidents were selected from among those reported to area law enforcement and fire protection districts.

Thursday Sept. 13

11 a.m., Horizon Casino Resort, Stateline – embezzlement. Casino video surveillance caught a Horizon night shift security guard pocketing 15 $1 chips from a slot attendant’s cart. Douglas County sheriff’s deputies also linked Richard Aney, 21, of Stateline, to the theft of $20 from a wallet that was in the lost and found.



Friday Sept. 14

4:42 p.m., 1044 Emerald Bay Road, South Lake Tahoe – missing cash. Brenda Daly, 21, of South Lake Tahoe, lost a bank bag owned by ClothesTime that contained $1,156 in cash and checks. She told police she lost the bag en route to drop the money at a bank. Daly is an assistant manager at the store and is not a suspect, police said.



11:40 p.m., 3400 block of Beaver Brea Street, Meyers – domestic violence. Police arrested Peter Ballachey, 50, on suspicion of beating a woman. El Dorado County sheriff’s deputies found red marks on the body and face of the 50-year-old woman. Ballachey passed out in jail and was transported to the hospital. His blood alcohol level was .40. He told police he didn’t hit the woman but instead was defending himself.

2:50 p.m., Jameson Beach Road, Camp Richardson Resort – grand theft. Someone stole $400 worth of linens from two cabins at the resort. El Dorado County sheriff’s deputies also found vomit on the floor in one of the rooms. The theft occurred sometime between Wednesday and Friday.

Saturday Sept. 15

11:06 p.m., 800 block of Lakeview Avenue, South Lake Tahoe – minor in possession of alcohol. Jeremy Schmalfeldt, 18, was ticketed for being a minor in possession of a bottle of Smirnoff Ice, a popular vodka-lemonade drink. A loud party drew officers to the residence.

Sunday, Sept. 16

3:12 p.m., 1800 block of U.S. Highway 50, South Lake Tahoe – disturbing the peace. Police arrested Terina Fry, 20, for playing music too loud at her apartment.
