The following incidents were selected from among those reported to area law enforcement and fire protection districts.
Friday Aug. 31
6:20 p.m., Caesars Tahoe, Stateline – embezzlement. Video surveillance showed a 19-year-old woman stealing money while working in the “Caesars Exclusively” gift shop. Douglas County sheriff’s deputies arrested Gabriela Romero-Perez of South Lake Tahoe. Casino security told a deputy they suspect Romero-Perez of stealing almost $1,000.
Sunday Sept. 2
12:01 a.m., Horizon Casino Resort, Stateline – burglary. A vendor at a craft fair at the casino had a $600 video camera stolen from his motor home. The owner was William Pearce, 63, of Vancouver, Wash.
7 p.m., Harveys Resort Casino, Stateline – lost wallet. Tony Miguel, a 50-year-old from Carson City, went into El Vaquero, a casino restaurant, with his wallet in his front pants’ pocket. When he left the restaurant the wallet was missing and so was the $840 cash it contained.
Tuesday Sept. 4
3:25 p.m., 2953 U.S. Highway 50, Meyers – grand theft. A new television worth $380 was stolen from St. Jacque’s Sterling Village Assisted Living. The housing complex is not open yet. Someone entered by prying a screen from a ground floor window over Labor Day weekend, deputies said.
Thursday Sept. 6
1:37 a.m., Harveys Resort Casino, Stateline – fraud. Casino security called the Sheriff’s Department after someone matched a woman to an International Casino Surveillance flier. The flier said a woman named Barbara Mann had stolen thousands of dollars from casinos in Reno. A deputy questioned the woman and arrested her. He found $3,069 in cash in her purse. At the jail, she identified herself as Kimberly Johnson, 37, of Chicago.
Saturday Sept. 8
7 a.m., Bayview Trailhead, Emerald Bay State Park – burglary. Someone smashed a right rear window of a tan 1994 Volvo station wagon and stole a set of keys, except for a mailbox key that was taken off the ring and left in the car, and a $20 bill. Nancy Kraus, 63, of Nevada City, Calif., parked and locked her wagon Sept. 4. She returned four days later and discovered the theft.
