10:30 a.m., 2291 U.S. Highway 50, South Lake Tahoe – update. A $600 Rainbow lorakeet stolen from a cage inside Animal Works on June 29 has been recovered. An unidentified woman called the store Tuesday morning and said she had the lorakeet. Steve Stark, owner of Animal Works, drove to the woman’s house and picked it up. He said he didn’t question the woman because he was just glad to get the bird back. “She didn’t even want the $100 reward,” Stark said. The owners of the lorakeet were on vacation the entire time it was missing. The store is bird-sitting for the owners.
