Friday June 15
10:33 a.m., 2400 Venice Drive, South Lake Tahoe – boat burglary. A 29-foot Formula motor boat had a stereo worth $200 stolen from it. Police said they believe the crime is part of a rash of burglaries that took place the night of June 11 at Tahoe Keys Marina. The boat was in dry dock and elevated on blocks. The owner, a Sparks man, left keys for the boat in its ignition. The thief used the keys to unlock the cabin, police said.
Saturday June 16
1:41 p.m., 2200 of Idaho Avenue, South Lake Tahoe – intoxicated joyride. Police said a 17-year-old boy hot-wired his mom’s 1975 white Corvette and went for a ride. The mother called police because when she got home at 1 p.m. her car was not in the driveway. She told police that her son showed up with the car 30 minutes later. Officers investigating the incident said they found a pipe used to smoke marijuana on a table inside the house. Police believe the boy was under the influence of marijuana and an illegal stimulant. Paramedics transported the 17-year-old to Barton Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Sunday June 17
11:06 a.m., 3900 block of U.S. Highway 50, South Lake Tahoe – grand theft. A couple staying at Holiday Inn Express left without checking out and took a lamp, pillow cases and a bed spread worth $540, police said. The couple, who claimed to be from Sanger, Calif., were driving a 1985 silver Toyota pickup. A deputy in Fresno stopped the Toyota but made no arrests because he did not find the stolen items.
11:55 p.m., 1000 Johnson Boulevard, South Lake Tahoe – shoplifting, possession of a concealed weapon. Safeway employees called the police after a man bolted from the store with prime steak worth $32. An officer spotted a man running across Johnson Boulevard and questioned Matthew Frazier, a 28-year-old transient, about the steaks he had. The officer searched Frazier and found a 9-inch serrated steak knife in his front pocket. Police arrested Frazier on suspicion of petty theft and possession of a concealed weapon.
