Sunday May 20

9:36 p.m., 700 block of Emerald Bay Road, South Lake Tahoe – burglary. A thief smashed a window and unlocked a door to an apartment and stole more than $1,500 worth of stuff. A 31-year-old woman is missing a TV, videocassette recorder, air compressor and full tool box, police said. A landlord evicted the woman and she was in the process of moving her belongings to Roseville, Calif. She had been gone for more than a week when she returned and found her apartment ransacked.

Tuesday May 22

1 a.m., 2500 block of Elwood Avenue, South Lake Tahoe – domestic violence. Police arrested Christopher Poland, 24, of South Lake Tahoe, because a woman said he hit her twice in the side of her head. The 28-year-old woman reportedly told police she would not let Poland into her house but he eventually entered through a window. She said he chased her into a back bedroom and hit her. Then he allegedly grabbed some items and left.
