Blue Ribbon Awards luncheon honors outstanding businesses Nov. 12

To recognize the community impact of local businesses, the Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce and the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority will host the second annual Blue Ribbon Awards luncheon at Embassy Suites Lake Tahoe on Nov. 12 from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Awards in six categories will be presented to businesses and individuals who have made notable contributions to the sustainability and quality of life in the community. Winners and honorable mentions will be announced for overall experience, an entrepreneur, service in a private business and in a public agency, and a small and large green business. Nominees in all categories will also be acknowledged as well.
Last year’s winners include, Freshies Restaurant on Lake Tahoe Boulevard, which received the experience award for providing an exemplary customer service experience.
Also in 2008, the entrepreneur award was given to Jana Walker Spano, owner of Sealed with a Kiss at the Shops at Heavenly Village. Sealed with a Kiss now has a second location in Roseville.
The green award, for a business that has made a significant effort to improve and protect the environment by implementing a green service or program, was awarded to Custom Floor Care. The service award, for an individual who consistently goes above and beyond to provide exceptional service, was given to Ellen Krauss of Tahoe Paradise Chevron.
