Blue Turtle, MontBleu get green for St. Paddy’s
A show that bills itself as Tahoe’s ultimate St. Patrick’s Day party is, fittingly, as much about the blue as the green.
Local bands Blue Turtle Seduction and Duke of Bruce will join special guest DJs in the Opal Ultra Lounge at the MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa on Tuesday, March 17.
Blue Turtle Seduction debuted in 2001 and established itself as a favorite of South Shore jam band fans. Christian Zupancic plays violin and five-string electric mandolin, along with Jay Seals on guitar and vocals, Glenn Stewart on harmonica, pan flute, and vocals, Stephen Seals on bass and Adam Navone on drums. The band released a new album, “13 Floors,” in February.
“This one takes (us) in different directions,” Zupancic told Lake Tahoe Action in January. “There’s more studio experimentation this time.”
The band describes its sound as jam-newgrass or gypsy rock while name-checking Duran Duran, String Cheese Incident, the Clash, Blind Melon and the Samples before ultimately urging listeners to come check out Blue Turtle themselves.
Duke of Bruce is a new South Shore band.
Doors open at 9 p.m., and the party features specials on Jameson, Bailey’s and Jägermeister, as well as a raffle for a Jameson snowboard. Tickets are $12 in advance at the MontBleu, Mad About Music and the Tahoe Hemp Co., or $15 at the door.
