On Wednesday, Aug. 17, Valhalla Tahoe welcomes The Rita Hosking Trio to its Boathouse Theatre at 7:30 p.m.

Known for her bluegrass and folk style, Northern California-based frontwoman Rita Hosking’s latest three albums received high praises from the Independent Music Awards, The Telegraph, The Observer, The Daily Mirror and more.

“Rita Hosking sings of forest fires, culture clash, demolition derbies, the working class and hope,” according to a press release from Valhalla Tahoe. “From NPR’s Weekend Edition to Bob Harris’ BBC Show, Rita is moving audiences around the globe with her stories in song and doubly sweet and sinewy voice.”

Hosking often performs solo, but Sean Feder and Bill Dakin round out the group when the band performs as The Rita Hosking Trio. Feder is the main accompanist on dobro, banjo and harmonies. Dakin plays upright bass and moving harmonies.

“Together, they deliver what No Depression calls, ‘Authentic folk music to stir the soul,’” according to the release.

The concert is part of the 2016 Valhalla Art, Music & Theatre Festival, which focuses on showcasing the “deep and rich well of talent in Northern California and Nevada,” according to the release.

Tickets for the show start at $20. Preferred seating is available for $28.

Valhalla’s Boathouse Theatre is located at 1 Valhalla Road. Parking at the venue is limited, but additional parking is available in the Highway 89 lot.
