All-Stars finish up at Lampe
South Tahoe’s Babe Ruth 14-Year-Old All-Stars represented the area at the Nevada state baseball tournament this past week in Gardnerville.
Carson City spoiled South Tahoe’s state opener with a 12-3 victory on Sunday, then Reno West eliminated South Tahoe 13-4 on Tuesday at Lampe Park.
The pitching of Kyante Wilson kept South Tahoe close through four innings against Carson City.
“He really settled down and did a great job,” said South Tahoe coach Pat Harnett, who worked with the all-stars along with manager Steve Weldy and coach Chuck Diana. “He showed some good leadership.”
Gabe Carranza, Kyle Rossi and Spencer Harnett each crossed home plate for South Tahoe.
Against Reno West, Dominic Diana was in a hitting groove with multiple hits, and Connor McKeen tossed a complete game.
“Connor discovered the virtue of a curveball. He kept them off balance after the first inning,” Harnett said. “The boys hung tough, played tough and had a great time doing it.”
