Boarders show skills at USASA double up half pipe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – After a series of storms, the weather cooperated and brought a beautiful warm day for the USASA double up half pipe event on Sunday at Sierra at Tahoe Ski Resort. The athletes were excited to get into the pipe and show their bag of tricks to the judges in the first two pipe events for the region.

“It was a perfect day along with a perfect pipe,” said Heavenly Snowboard Coach Travis Chatwin. “All the kids did a great job representing.”

Gold medals for the 1st pipe event went to Wyatt Hargrave (Boys 7 & Under), Zennon Chatwin (Boys 8-9), Amanda King (Girls 10-11), Denver Orr (Boys 10-11), Trenton Leonard (Skier Boys 10-12), Megan King (Girls 12-13), Dustin Orr (Boys 12-13), Sawyer Cairns (Skier Boys 13-15), Jessica Benefiel (Girls 14-15), Matthew Jones (Boys 1-15), Brittany Morris (Girls 16-17) and Marco Gooding (Boys 16-17).



Runners up bringing home the silvers were Vincent Piccinonno (Boys 7 & Under), Anthony Piccinonno (Boys 8-9), Shane Aaron (Boys 10-11), Tyler Wattanachinda (Skier Boys 10-12), Alec Bowman (Skier Boys 13-15), Taylor Chatwin (Girls 14-15), Liam Loftis (Boys 14-15) and Blair Esson (Boys 16-17).

After completing the first pipe there was a short break and the athletes were back to the top ready to drop in and again display their abilities earning points to get them qualified for national’s.



Wyatt Hargrave (Boys 7 & under), Zennon Chatwin (Boys 8-9), Amanda King (Girls 10-11), Shane Aaron (Boys 10-11), Trenton Leonard (Skier Boys 10-12), Megan King (Girls 12-13), Dustin Orr (Boys 12-13), Sawyer Cairns (Skier Boys 13-15), Jessica Benefiel (Girls 14-15), Liam Loftis (Girls 14-15), Brittany Morris (Girls 16-17) and Blair Esson (Boys 16-17) all walked away with gold medals for the 2nd half pipe of the day.

Silver medals went to Vincent Piccinonno (7 & under), Anthony Piccinonno (Boys 8-9), Denver Orr (Boys 10 – 11), Sloane Niccoli (Boys 10-12), Alec Bowman (Skier Boys 13-15), Taylor Chatwin (Girls 14-15), Matthew Jones (Boys 14-15), and Marco Gooding (Boys 16-17).

For a complete list of results go to http://www.usasa.org the next USASA events will be the final pipe on Saturday and a slope on Sunday. Both will be at Sierra-at-Tahoe Ski Resort.
