Bomb-threat suspect headed to trial
The man accused in the New Year’s Eve robbery and bomb threat at the Wells Fargo Bank inside Raley’s supermarket was arraigned Monday in El Dorado County Superior Court.
Scott Alan Pearson pleaded not guilty to two counts of robbery, one count of making terrorist threats and one count of making a bomb threat, according to El Dorado County Assistant District Attorney Hans Uthe.
Pearson’s next court date is April 14, when a trial date will be set.
Pearson allegedly robbed the bank branch inside Raley’s in the Village Center, leaving a box at the scene that he said contained a bomb, according to South Lake Tahoe police.
The supermarket was immediately evacuated. The Tahoe Douglas Bomb Squad responded to the scene and brought in a robot to render the device safe.
Pearson was arrested Jan. 4 at a South Lake Tahoe motel.
He remained in custody Monday in El Dorado County Jail, according to a county Web site.
