Bong hits lead to arrest

Michael Schneider

A South Lake Tahoe man was arrested Monday night for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, a potential felony.

Theodore Walker, 19, was traveling on Pioneer Trail when his vehicle drifted across the roadway and struck a tree near Herbert Avenue, according to South Lake Tahoe police reports.

Walker suffered deep lacerations on his face and a broken collar bone.

Walker reportedly told police he had been at a friend’s house watching a movie called “Three Hits from the Bong.” Police said Walker told them he had smoked some high-quality marijuana and “started freaking out and tripping on stuff” while he was driving. Police reported the potent pot use led to the accident.

Walker was transported to Barton Memorial Hospital.
