Memorial services will take place Thursday for Bonnie Sue Gary, who passed away June 5, 2007, at her oldest son’s home in Folsom, Calif., after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. All three of her children were at her bedside holding her hands as she passed. She was 58.

Bonnie was born Dec. 21, 1948, near Jacksonville, Fla. She lived in South Lake Tahoe from 1993 to 1997, where she worked in reservations at Embassy Suites Resort. Two of her children, Barbara and David, graduated from South Tahoe High School and Barbara and her family continue to reside in the community. Bonnie will be loved and missed for each and every day her survivors spend without her and she will always be remembered as “Sweet, sweet Bonnie.”

Bonnie is survived by her children, Robert Gary, Barbara Gary and David Gary; grandchildren, Michael Gary, Roman Gary, Madilynne Cox and Talon Cox; and sisters, Nita and Dottie.

Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at French Mortuary in Albuquerque, N.M. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her late husband, U.S. Navy Cmdr. Michael Gary on the 25th anniversary of his tragic death.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Bonnie’s memory be made to the Lake Tahoe Humane Society, P.O. Box PET, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96158.

A memorial wake will take place at 3 p.m. June 24 at the Old Washoe Club in Virginia City, Nev., for Phyllis Katherine McCurry, who passed away June 9, 2007, at her home in Carson City, Nev. She was 79.

Mrs. McCurry was born May 8, 1928, in Bonesteel, S.D., to Deamose J. and Josephine Raymond. She attended school in South Dakota and graduated from Grossmont High School in El Cajon, Calif. She obtained her beautician license and worked as a beautician through World War II. She married Stanley D. Lynn on May 24, 1946. They owned and operated a gas station as well as a restaurant in El Cajon. She married her childhood sweetheart, John H. McCurry June 26, 1975, in El Cajon. The couple moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1993, where she worked as a waitress at Mc P’s Irish Pub & Grill. They settled in Carson City in 2000. Her hobbies included dancing, gambling, crocheting and reading. She was known for her sense of humor, quick wit and joy for living.

Mrs. McCurry is survived by her husband John H. McCurry of Carson City; children, Stanley F. Lynn of Lakeside, Calif., Rodney Randal Lynn of El Cajon, Daryl Dee Lynn of South Lake Tahoe, Sharon J. Fitch of Dallas, Ore., Patrick W. McCurry of Salem, Ore., Candia L. Friesen of Salem, Debora S. McCurry of Carson City, Reenie K. Kilgore of Sheridan, Ore.; Eileen C. McCurry-Hays of Salem and Michael S. McCurry of Cool, Calif.; brother, Willis Floyd Raymond of San Jacinto, Calif.; sisters, Frieda Alice Arias of Bullhead City, Ariz., and Della Marie Wood of La Mesa, Calif.; 19 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband in 1956; daughter, Kathleen A. McCostlin; brother, Lloyd Deamose Raymond; and sister, Nima May Roseberry.
