Book launch next Friday
June 12, 2011
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A book launch will be held at Bona Fide Books 6:30 p.m. June 17 on celebration of Tahoe poet Suzanne Roberts’ third collection of poems, “Three Hours to Burn a Body: Poems on Travel” and the opening of her photography show “Faces,” featuring photographs from around the world.
The party is open to the community and will feature a short reading and book signing, drinks and appetizers, and entertainment.
Books will be available for purchase.
Roberts was named “The Next Great Travel Writer” in 2008 by National Geographic’s Traveler.
Her travel writing has been published in Traveler and on National Geographic’s Intelligent Traveler site.
“Poetry is the ideal medium to capture sense of place because of the poem’s imagistic in-the-moment nature,” Roberts said.

This photography show will be Roberts’ first solo show, though she has shown her award-winning photographs at Lake Tahoe Community College and Western Nevada College.
She has also published a photo essay about Mongolia on Traveler’s website.
“The eye for photography is the same eye needed for poetry. Both art forms require not just looking but really seeing,” Roberts said
Bona Fide Books is an independent press located at 1069 Magua No. 4, behind the Getaway Cafe in Meyers.
