Gemma Roma and Brandon Rossi, who work as program aides for the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe, each recently received $1,000 scholarship awards. The awards were given in combination with the President’s Scholarship program and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America to honor and recognize youth who combine their academics with community service.

Rossi is enrolled in courses at Lake Tahoe Community College and would like to pursue a career in the emergency medical field. He has aspirations to become a helicopter pilot, flying for medic transportation. He enjoys his job at the Boys & Girls Club and assists the youth with homework, sports, computers and other pursuits.

Roma is a senior at South Tahoe High School and will be using her scholarship after she graduates. She will enroll in classes at Lake Tahoe Community College to receive her associate of arts degree before transferring to a four-year college.

As a program aide for the club, she has been a great role model for the youth with her gentle smile and encouragement for them to reach their goals.

Both Roma and Rossi maintain a strong commitment to their community, and in particular to the youth.
