Boys & Girls Club collecting items for packages to troops

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Boys & Girls Club is helping The American Legion with a drive to send packages from the Lake Tahoe Basin to 300 members of the Northern Nevada National Guard who were recently deployed to Afghanistan.

Suggested items to donate for the packages include: Personal letters and cards of gratitude and appreciation, phone cards, sports balls, toiletries, CDs, DVDs, T-shirts, baseball caps and other Lake Tahoe souvenir printed items.

Monetary donations are welcome to assist the American Legion in covering the cost of shipping.

Please drop off your donations at the Boys & Girls Club at 1100 Lyons Ave. from 2-6 p.m., Monday through Friday, until May 31.
