Fresno Fire Capt. Pete Dern was seriously injured working a house fire, when he fell through a collasped roof into a burning garage. More than 60 percent of his body was burned. His wife, daughter, mother, sisters and family, alongside of his fire family are with him during this long and painful recovery period. In a show of solidarity, the Tahoe-Douglas Fire Protection District and the Local 2441 are helping to raise money for the family by holding a breakfast on Sunday from 8 to 11 a.m.

Breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, fruit, drinks and coffee, for $5 per plate. Donations for the Dern family can also be made by visiting http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/fire-captain-pete-dern-and-family/330134#.VRoVO7QvizY.mailto.

The fundraising breakfast will be held at the Tahoe-Douglas Fire Protection District Station 23 located at 193 Elks Point Road in Zephyr Cove, Nev.
