The Tahoe Art League will host Brian Davis as the demonstrator at its monthly meeting Wednesday. Davis has a unique and dramatic realist style of painting. Flowers are his most constant subject and he often features a single flower as a large painting.

“I’m considered to be a ‘photo realist’ by some people,” Davis said. “But it is not my goal to make art that looks like a photo. I love visible brushwork, and I incorporate it in my painting style.

“Once I have decided on an idea that I want to produce, I look to find the most powerful way to portray it. I work on a piece until all the parts are doing their jobs, and then I stop. I have one objective, and that is to make art that is arresting.”

TAL meetings are the second Wednesday of the month, 7-9 p.m., at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center at 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd. The public is invited. Visit for more information.
