Brief standoff in Truckee ends in arrest
TRUCKEE – Truckee police on Friday morning arrested a man who was reported to be suicidal and driving through town with a gun.
After being alerted by Reno authorities to the risk, Truckee police said officers saw the vehicle in the Old Gateway area on Donner Pass Road. The individual refused to cooperate, and after police observed a .380 Taurus semi-automatic handgun on the center console of the vehicle, negotiations began.
The subject was arrested and taken to Tahoe Forest Hospital for treatment on a mental health evaluation hold, police said.
The name of the individual had not been released.
