Broadway comes to Tahoe

Provided to the Tribune

As a kickoff to its landmark 35th season, the annual Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival is bringing a special performance by the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra to its Sand Harbor stage. Broadway on the Beach is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. July 9 and serves as the official opening of the 2007 season.

Starring Broadway veterans Doug LaBrecque and Anne Runolfsson, and orchestrated by music director Barry Jekowsky, Broadway on the Beach will bring the best of New York to Sand Harbor. LaBrecque’s long resume includes a role in the Phantom of the Opera. Runolfsson is comfortable on a large Broadway stage in character, in front of a large orchestra or in a cozy cabaret in New York City.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $22, $32 for upper and lower seating levels and youth tickets for children aged 15 and under are $14. For more information or tickets for Broadway on the Beach, call (800) 74-SHOWS or see http://www.RenoPhil. com.
