Burlesque show coming to the Blu Nightclub
Showgirls are returning to Stateline.
“The Red Party at Blu” features the Champagne Dolls, an MC-DJ, Radioactive and DJ Burke Mon on Monday, May 9.
“It’s not topless and it’s professional dancers,” said choreographer Jessica Broyles, one of the three Champagne Dolls. “So you are getting the best of both worlds. A lounge environment but you’re still getting entertainment and shows because there are no shows left in town.”
Monday’s event is like a tryout before local residents, she said. If it is successful, the burlesque shows might become a regular feature, perhaps playing Thursdays through Saturdays.
The Casino Corridor used to feature nightly shows at each venue. Broyles was a member of the most recent show, “The Chipper Lowell Experience!” That nightly comedy and dance show ended in 2008.
Broyles presented the Dance Project on a couple of occasions at Lake Tahoe Community College. She and the other two Champagne Dolls, Britney Irwin and Sarah Roulias, perform in “The Follies,” each Friday at the Carson Nugget through June 24.
She described “The Red Party at Blu.”
“It’s an alternative take on burlesque shows,” she said. “There is still the allure of the striptease that is happening but it’s a little bit more new age. We have more popular club music, a little bit more rock ‘n’ roll. I try to add a little more of an edgy look and feel to the whole thing.”
