Burned bear cub to be featured on CBS Evening News tonight

CBS News producers informed a firefighter who rescued a burned bear cub from a Northern California fire last month that the segment of the bear’s recovery at Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care will air tonight.

The firefighter told Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care officials the segment on Li’l Smokey will air tonight on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric. The bear cub’s charred body was brought to the facility a few weeks ago.

“We received a call from Adam Deem this morning, the fire fighter who rescued Li’l Smokey in the Trinity/Shasta National Forest in the ‘Moon’ Fire. He informed us that he received an e-mail from the staff at the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric and was informed that the piece they did last Tuesday on Li’l Smokey will be on tonight’s broadcast,” wrote Tom Millham, founder, secretary/treasurer of Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care.

CBS News with Katie Couric airs at 6 p.m. on Channel 2 KTVN in Reno.
