Bus kiosks get Internet access

Tahoe Daily Tribune Staff Reports

Staff report

Kiosks that are part of South Shore’s transit system, BlueGo, will be equipped with wireless Web access in time for the weekend.

“We are lighting up about 25 different locations,” said Michael Greenstein, president of Hot Spots Kiosks, which is responsible for the upgrading and maintenance of BlueGo kiosks. “They all will have Web access available within 300 feet of the kiosks.”

Kiosks with Web access will be marked with an “I.” Access costs $4.95 for two hours, and $9.95 for a day. Weekly and monthly Web passes are also available.

Customers often use the Web to check their e-mail, download digital photos and search for things to do in Tahoe, Greenstein said.
