The two South Shore Chambers of Commerce plan to put on two community forums to discuss the proposed chamber merger.

The idea is to gain information and provide input to those inside and outside the memberships.

The first interactive meeting is scheduled over lunch at noon Wednesday at Harveys Resort Casino at a cost of $20 per person. The breakfast meeting is slated at 8 a.m. Feb. 8 at Embassy Suites Lake Tahoe for $15 per person.

The proposal has been circulated for a few months as a way to reduce costs and allow the business advocacy groups to run efficiently. The chambers had a survey conducted that favorably viewed a combined membership.

Business party slated Friday

The Tahoe Douglas Chamber of Commerce on Friday will host the Business Kaleidoscope 2006, a business party that features a wide array of services and products on the South Shore. Attendees are urged to bring business cards to pass out.

Along with a raffle and silent auction, a dozen restaurants will offer samples for the party scheduled for 8 p.m. at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe.

General admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. The event is free to chamber members.
