C aps for Kids to distribute hats

Through the joint cooperation of the South Lake Tahoe Parks & Recreation Department, El Dorado Community Services Department and Christmas Cheer, handmade hats are being sought to give to needy children this Christmas.

The Caps for Kids program is conducted nationwide and was started at South Lake Tahoe 16 years ago. The Caps for Kids program is an excellent way for the handy people in the community to ensure that a child will stay warm this winter.

Caps for Kids will be distributed locally by Christmas Cheer. Caps can be made using a favorite knit or crochet pattern or by using the directions provided by the Parks and Recreation Department. Caps should be dropped off at the Recreation Complex, 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd., by Dec. 13 to ensure distribution by Christmas.

For more information or to receive a Caps for Kids pattern call the Parks & Recreation Department at (530) 542-6058.
