Cadet program blasts off next month

Tribune

Civil Air Patrol, Blackhawk Squadron cadets participated in a model rocket launch last November at the Pinenut Radio controlled airport in Gardnerville, Nev.

Twice a year, fall and spring, local cadets build and launch motel rockets, study the science of rockets and learn the safety codes. When all steps are completed cadets can earn a special patch for their uniform. To participate CAP cadets must be members in good standing and must have attained the rank of Airman. The course is free to all members

The next Model Rocketry class will take place in March at the CAP building at Lake Tahoe Airport. New cadets still have a chance to join this Air Force Auxiliary program for teens in the sixth-grade through 21 years of age. For more information about the program call Capt. Sharon Reardon at (530) 541-7997.
